Busy October

This month has been crazy with IASAS Cross Country Championships in Singapore, travelling and involvement with the school.

ISKL boys came fifth overall, while girls placed second and earned ISKL's first ever IASAS silver medal in XC

Beginning of November was the culmination of months of hard work with the team, with the IASAS championships in Singapore where we ran 3km and 5km races. I placed in the middle of the pack overall but coming in first for ISKL in the long distance race. Finding time to run will be harder from now on with swim season, so commitment will be key.

Running loops around villages in Java, Indonesia surrounded by rice paddies and picturesque views on the nearby volcanoes

I then spent a week of holidays near Yogyakarta in Indonesia, where around 20km were run in the early hours of the day.

Teaching pythagorean theorem, areas of shapes and orders of operations

Once back, I taught a math class to CWO students in class P4 while their original teacher was away, and we moved incredibly fast thanks to their eager approach to learning. I also met with the school director who let me know that their finances were crumbling and so far the school will have to close next June. More must be done to save these children's only possible source of education.
